At the committee meeting held at the Village Hall at 7.30pm members elected Philip Berrisford as Chairman, Nigel Owen as Treasurer, and Peter Turner as Secretary. The group started to discuss how they were going to come up with a prospectus so that the CIC would be able to be formed.
It was agreed that at least a couple of other Community pubs should be visited to meet the owners to understand the pitfalls and best practice of establishing a CIC. The White Hart at Alton and the Auctioneers arms at Caverswall were places that had offered support. Arrangements to be made
Peter Turner had already spoken to Support Staffordshire about the project and they will be able to guide us through the process of setting up a CIC and the application for grants. A meeting between Support Staffordshire and the committee will be arranged asap.
Discussions had already taken place between our Lawyers and the vendors and the lawyers had also suggested the most appropriate legal mechanism for the CIC. We will look at this when we have seen the other CIC operations.
Several members had met with an architect to view the site so that he would be able to understand the nature of the project and be able to come up with suggestions and decide if he would be able to help us. He will be reporting back in the next couple of weeks hopefully with some outline suggestions of how we can integrate a business hub into the project.
